Please note: Passport renewals or replacements typically take about 2 weeks to process.
- Report of Birth
Abroad, passport, and/or social security number for a U.S. citizen child
Please note: For a Report of Birth Abroad, we strongly recommend that you bring an original birth certificate “Shusshou Todoke Kisai Jiko Shomeisho" (出生届記載事項証明書） in lieu of the family registry "Koseki Tohon" . We may request additional evidence or information if only the family registry is provided.

Forms of Payment by Mail
If you meet the requirements to mail in your passport for renewal or for additional visa pages, you can pay for your service the following ways:
- International Postal Money Order
(Kokusai Yubin Kawase) with the paid amount in U.S. Dollars available from
the Japanese Post Office. The Post
Office can convert yen to dollars for the payment.
Address the money order either to: (a) "U.S. Embassy Tokyo"
